Life's a Hell of a Thing

In a small town lived a young boy
The neighbor's daughter was his only toy
By the age of fourteen they knew each other well
When her belly began to swell
The folks could tell
By sixteen when he couldn't find a job
The next best thing was to cruise at night and rob
He continued and continued till he landed in jail
Sharing a cell with another male
By twenty-one he had turned that way
You know what I mean, the brother's now gay
Now he's out in the big city and claims he wants to sing
Sometimes wearing dresses, makeup and a wedding ring
He says he's happy living day to day
And all I can say is
Life's a hell of a thing
